The most significant and holy festival of Diwali has arrived and will be celebrated on Monday, 24 October. Hindus around the world observe this auspicious festival signifying the victory of light over darkness. The Young Hindu Cultural Service Society (YHCSS) extends an invitation to Ladysmith to their annual Diwali celebrations on Saturday, 22 October.
“It will be a day of giving and celebrating, and we would like everyone to attend the Diwali celebration,” said YHCSS secretary, Shalini Budhu. The YHCSS on Kandahar Avenue is the venue. The afternoon’s festivities will start at 2.30pm with a spiritual segment that will include all religious organisations, including Bhajan groups, followed by live entertainment from sensational musical artists as one of the main attractions. “We will also have a fireworks display which will be sponsored by Riga Bros and is promised to be amazing, safe and fun as we celebrate this day with the community.” Meals, sweet meats and other delicious treats will be given to those attending the Diwali festival. “Please come and enjoy the celebrations with us and let us celebrate this day by being together,” said the YHCSS.
