Two truck occupants narrowly escaped death when two heavy duty vehicles were involved in a rear-end collision, on the N2 south bound in Ridgeview, on Monday night.
Netcare 911 responded to the scene and spokesperson, Shawn Herbst, said: “When paramedics assessed the scene, they found two adult males from the rear truck who had sustained serious injuries. “The fire and rescue services with a Netcare 911 rescue technician were forced to use hydraulic tools to free the occupants who were trapped from the waist down. Both patients were treated on scene by advanced life support paramedics.” Herbst said one of the truck drivers sustained minor injuries. “Once stabilized, all the patients were transported by ambulance to hospital for further care. On scene was the SAPS, Ethekwini Fire and Rescue Services, Durban Metropolitan Police Services and ALS Paramedics,” he said.
