Tip-off makes good for Umkomaas Task Team

A 25-year-old man is appearing at the Scottburgh Magistrate’s Court after being charged for contravening the Medicine Control Act.

KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson, Colonel Thembeka Mbele said the accused was also charged with possession of counterfeit goods after he was found in possession of various medications. Col Mbele said the arrest was effected by the Umkomaas Task Team who had received information about a stolen vehicle which was parked at Roseneath.

She said: “The Task Team together with a private security company proceeded to the said place and they found the vehicle. Upon checking the vehicle, they found 246 Zanax tablets,18 bottles of codeine cough syrup, Stilpane syrup, 11 packets of Pacific Blue cigarettes and 2kg of dagga.”

The accused was then placed under arrest for contravening the Medicine Control Act. He made his first appearance at the Scottburgh Magistrate’s Court on 30 November.
