Members of Trio Crime Prevention Phoenix
The men in blue from Phoenix SAPS Trio Crime Prevention were recently honoured with certificates of appreciation by the management of TGF Group for fighting crime in the area.
This follows the arrest of suspects who were involved in the armed robbery at two jewellery stores at the Phoenix Plaza last month. The heavily armed gang had stormed Mayuri’s Jewellers and Sterns and made off with an undisclosed amount of jewellery. The men fled the scene in two vehicles with false registration plates. They were arrested by members of the Trio Crime Prevention two days later after receiving information about two men selling jewellery in the KwaMashu area.
The suspects were found with various jewellery items, two unlicensed firearms, 10 rounds of live ammunition, a card-swiping machine and various other items in their vehicle. Further information led the police to an area where the other getaway car was recovered. Phoenix SAPS communications officer, Captain Louise Naidoo, said: “The members were issued with certificates as a token of appreciation for their hard work and securing the arrests. The management of SAPS Phoenix appreciates the efforts of the TGF Group in the acknowledgement of our members who strive to do their best in every situation. Well done to our members, keep the SAPS flag flying high.”
