As Eid ul-Adha 2025 approaches, the Tiny Steps Care Team (TSCT) is preparing for its fifth annual Project Qurbani, aiming to support over 600 vulnerable Muslims across Greater Durban and KwaZulu-Natal. This initiative honours the sacred Sunnah of Qurbani and fosters community inclusion and dignity.

In 2024, TSCT facilitated the sacrifice of 12 live animals, providing Eid lunch meals for 600 individuals across three locations, three months’ worth of hot meal preparations for local madressas, and meat parcels distributed to 150 families. Beneficiaries included communities in Cliffdale Mussallah, Shongweni Bux Farm Mussallah, Overport, Sydenham, Clare Estate, and surrounding areas. Each madressa received essential ingredients—oil, rice, spices, and vegetables—to prepare their own Eid meals, fostering a sense of participation and joy.

This year, TSCT plans to allocate four live animals per centre: one for the Eid lunch meal, one to be frozen for future hot meals, and two for distribution to sustain families post-Eid. Local families will receive meal parcels delivered directly to their homes, ensuring convenience and dignity.

A unique aspect of Project Qurbani is the involvement of local alims, sheikhs, and madressa students. Participants engage in feeding the animals, witnessing the sacrifice, and assisting in meat preparation. This hands-on experience educates the youth about the significance of Qurbani and instills values of compassion and service.

TSCT invites you to be part of this noble cause. Your contributions will help procure and care for the animals, provide necessary ingredients for meal preparations, and distribute meat parcels to families in need. All beneficiaries are eligible for Zakat, and TSCT can provide tax certificates upon request.
