Nkosinathi Dlamini, the father of Zibuyile Dlamini, who was bludgeoned to death with a hammer by her husband, can finally move forward after the arrest of her murderer. Sizwe Miya, 30, briefly appeared in the Bergville Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 10 October, facing murder charges.
Dlamini said: “He took my daughter, our sister, a mother, and a friend to the community. Words cannot express how relieved I am, and how thankful I am to the Bergville SAPS and to Sergeant Thami Ndlovu. We can now find closure and see justice prevail.” His family was by his side at court.

Miya, the accused, stood with his head down as the court proceedings continued, surrounded by family and friends of the late Zibuyile. “This man needs to be locked away, and the key thrown away,” a family member remarked.
Detective Sergeant Ndlovu, who had been pursuing the suspect for nearly two years, expressed his relief: “I left no stone unturned,” he said. Dlamini praised Ndlovu’s dedication, stating that his constant communication had kept the family informed throughout the process. “He was God-sent,” Dlamini added.
Zibuyile, 26, from the Emmaus area, was murdered in January 2023 by her husband, who fled the scene after the fatal assault. After many attempts to trace him, Ndlovu received crucial information on 7 October about Miya’s whereabouts in Germiston, Gauteng, leading to his arrest.
Bergville Station Commander Lieutenant Colonel Ramlagan commended Ndlovu for his perseverance and determination in ensuring that justice was served.
