Effingham Heights resident and Miss India SA finalist, Sapna Kissoon, is a young woman with a remarkable dream of uplifting the youth and bringing recognition to her community.
Describing herself as strong, ambitious and compassionate, the law student currently serves as an executive member in the Greenwood Park CPF Youth Desk and as co-head of liaising with security companies. A role that Kissoon said enables her to embrace upliftment through the heart of the community.
The 21-year-old has been keeping busy with her numerous efforts in making her community a better place. “The charity work I have done this year include the Effingham clean-up, the Mandela Day initiative where volunteers gathered to paint the children’s corner at the Redhill Clinic and a day market where I had acted as a judge for a competition. My upcoming charity events include painting a few walls of two schools in Effingham, a crime awareness day event and a women’s day event where I will talk to the youth and demonstrate acts of self-defence,” she said.
Kissoon’s biggest inspiration is actress and former Miss World, Priyanka Chopra who she said mirrors the ambition and compassion she sees in her self. Her goal within the sphere of the Miss India SA pageant is to use the platform to inspire and motivate girls. “My message of inspiration to the young girls out there is that you are beautiful and unique in your own way and never let another tell you otherwise,” said Kissoon.
