The Ladysmith Women’s Forum and the Youth Solidarity held a peaceful protest at The Square, Mica along Alexander and Total Oasis on Saturday, 22 May to show solidarity for the people of Palestine. Members gathered peacefully outside local businesses and sold cupcakes, delicious biryani and goodies to raise funds for the women and children who have been affected by the recent attacks from Israeli military troops.
Youngsters carried large posters as they called on the community to unite. “It is not about religion anymore or who is right or wrong, it is about innocent lives,” said Shazia Majid, who spent most of her Saturday afternoon with other fellow team members to make a difference and bring awareness to the what they said are senseless killings of Palestinians by Israel.
