A gun battle between suspects and police on Thursday resulted in the fatal wounding of four alleged robbers, murderers and extortionists on Duffs Road, along Dumisani Makhaye Drive.
According to police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Paul Magwaza, the suspects’ vehicle was intercepted by police whilst driving on Lark Road, heading towards Dumisani Makhaye Drive. “The suspects opened fire when they saw the police, and police retaliated,” Magwaza said.

During the shootout, three suspects were fatally wounded. A subsequent search of the vicinity led to the discovery of the body of the fourth suspect, who had attempted to flee but sustained gunshot wounds.
The suspects were found in possession of three firearms. Fortunately, no police officers were injured during the shootout.
Magwaza added: “The suspects will be profiled in order to see if they are linked to other crimes. The suspects were wanted for numerous murders, robberies and extortion cases in the Ethekwini District.”
