Chatsworth interfaith and civic organisations are coming together this Sunday to march in solidarity for Palestine and to call for a permanent ceasefire in war-torn Gaza.

These organisations are calling on peace-loving people to come in their numbers to give hope to the people of Gaza. The march begins at the Chatsworth Cricket Stadium at 1.30pm on Sunday, 3 December.

Community members from different faiths are calling for an end to the war in Gaza

Falling under the banner of South African Charity Aid for Palestine, a call is being made to all religious, sporting, business, civic and community organisations to mobilise people to attend the march. The death toll from the Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip has soared to almost 15 000, with almost half of that number being children.

Interfaith leader, Acharaya Shyam Ramanuj, emphasised that there is a need for people to support this historic march.

He said: “The media is full of graphic images depicting the suffering of the Palestinian people. Many of us want to do something to show we care and identify with the Palestinians. Amid the tragedy, a march by the people of Chatsworth will make us feel that we are heard and that our cries are not in vain. All over the world, millions of people have been marching and calling for no war and a permanent truce, giving hope to the people of Gaza who are just feeling helpless and hopeless right now. We are appealing to people of all ages, of different religious affiliations and races to join the march on Sunday with your flags, banners and placards, and show your support to a just cause – for Palestine to be freed and for the war to stop immediately.”

The South African Charity Aid for Palestine organisation appeals to residents to mobilise in their areas and get as many people as possible to attend this important historic march for a worthy cause.
