Three houses have collapsed in Tshelimnyama, Mariannhill, near Pinetown, following heavy rainfall across eThekwini.
The incident occurred on Friday morning in Ward 15, where localised mudslides affected homes in the area.
According to eThekwini Municipality, its Fire and Emergency Services responded to the scene and secured and cleared the affected area.
The municipality said approximately three houses collapsed, with 14 residents affected.
No fatalities, injuries or entrapments have been reported.
The incident comes as continuous heavy downpours continue across the eThekwini municipal region, with authorities warning that saturated ground could increase the risk of further mudslides and localised flooding.
Disaster Management teams are currently on the ground assessing the damage and coordinating immediate humanitarian and relief assistance for the affected families.
Meanwhile, municipal technical teams have opened the Isipingo Estuary mouth to relieve water build-up and reduce the risk of flooding in surrounding vulnerable communities.
Motorists have also been advised to keep their headlights on, reduce speed and avoid driving through flooded roads or low-lying bridges.
