Chloe Jade Gengadu, a 14-year-old learner at Belverton Secondary School has been named as one of the finalists in the Miss North Coast KZN pageant.
Born in Ballito, the young woman always held a deep love of art, dancing, and modeling. This love of modeling led her to join the SA Beauty modeling agency based in Ballito. Her mother, Vaneshree Gengadu said: “This is her first time entering a pageant of this nature. The pageant is hosted by her modeling agency and open to anyone to enter, she was inspired to join by her passion for fashion and beauty, she loves to express herself through clothing and style.”

“It makes me proud that my daughter has built up the confidence to participate in this event to showcase the opportunities for women’s empowerment. Her passion for women empowerment has made me realise that she is strong and she can do anything she sets her mind to.”
Offering advice to aspiring young models Chloe said: “Every girl should be proud of themselves; they should be confident and motivated to become anything they want to be. A girl should always be happy with herself and be able to stand on her own two feet. Do your best no matter the outcome and remember you are a star in your way. If you can believe it, you can achieve it. Always remember, true beauty comes from within, don’t forget to be yourself at all times.”
The Miss North Coast KZN pageant will be held on Saturday, 26 October at the Capital Hotel in Zimbali. This pageant is a youth development platform to empower women, supporting various charity projects annually. The current project is the ‘Keep a Girl in School’ campaign. Care packs will be distributed to victims of gender-based violence under the Rise Up Movement by all participants. Last year, the Miss North Coast KZN winners distributed over 25000 care packs to over 17 NPOs.
