Durban North-based teenager Arkitha Massallia has returned home with unforgettable memories after representing South Africa at the Miss Teen India Worldwide Pageant, held in Mumbai on 29 August. The 17-year-old proudly brought home the coveted Miss Photogenic title — her very first award at an international pageant.

The title is awarded across various Indian and international beauty competitions to young women of Indian descent who display outstanding camera presence and visual appeal. Arkitha expressed immense pride and joy at securing the title for South Africa. She said: “I am so happy and grateful to have won Miss Photogenic. But more than that, I will always treasure the friendships I made and the memories I created with contestants from across the world.”

For Arkitha, the pageant was more than just a competition. It was her first-ever visit to India — a trip she describes as deeply meaningful and spiritually enriching. She embraced the chance to reconnect with her cultural heritage, immersing herself in the vibrant sights, sounds, and traditions of the country.

Aside from the excitement of the event, Arkitha also had the unique opportunity to participate in professional ramp training and choreography, guided by renowned industry professionals and celebrities. She recalls these sessions as one of the highlights of her journey — offering both valuable skills and unforgettable experiences.
