A learner was stabbed and a wanted robber was swiftly apprehended through the joint efforts of KZNVIP response officers and members of the Community Policing Forum (CPF) near Trenance Park last Tuesday.
Spokesperson for KZNVIP, Gareth Naidoo, said the suspect was allegedly linked to a stabbing incident near a secondary school in Woodview.
“A KZNVIP response officer was conducting a routine patrol at the school when he observed a group of learners gathered near the bus stop just after 10h45am.
Upon investigation, the KZNVIP officer discovered that a learner had been stabbed in the right arm, while a group of suspects fled through a pathway leading toward Canterpalm,” Naidoo said.
He added: “All available KZNVIP response units and emergency services were immediately dispatched to the scene.

The injured learner was treated and later transported to a nearby medical facility for further medical care.”
According to Naidoo, a short while later, CPF members alerted KZNVIP officers that they had apprehended a suspect near Mainpark and Trenance Park, believed to be connected to the incident.
“Upon verification, it was confirmed that while the individual was not the direct assailant, he was part of the group involved in the stabbing.
Further information received from a CPF member indicated that the apprehended suspect was also wanted for multiple robberies in the area,” Naidoo said.
The suspect was handed over to SAPS Phoenix for further processing.
