Sister Benny encouraged the graduates to uphold the values of compassion and integrity in all their interactions with patients, while Nurse Fredericks reminded them that their work not only impacts the lives of those they care for but strengthens the broader community.
Dr Solange Ngodu, founder of the Nyema Foundation, collaborated with the Ubuntu Organisation to bring this training programme to life. She shared insights into the planning process and the importance of these partnerships, underscoring the transformative impact that skilled caregivers can have, especially in underserved communities.

Caregiver training through this programme covers a range of essential skills, enabling graduates to address various care needs, such as assisting with daily living activities, managing complex behaviours, and supporting emotional health. In addition to learning practical techniques, caregivers were trained to handle challenging caregiving scenarios, including working with terminally ill patients and managing chronic conditions. The certification equips graduates with the ability to work in various healthcare settings, from hospitals and clinics to in-home care.

The graduates’ commitment goes beyond academic achievement—they are now essential members of the health sector, providing vital support that promotes the independence, dignity, and quality of life of their patients. The skills they gained, from handling daily tasks to providing emotional support, prepare them to make meaningful contributions to healthcare and community well-being.
