Spreading love this Easter

There is indeed something beautiful and colourful about Easter that makes little ones and adults light up with wonder and excitement as they embrace the celebration of this religious holiday.

With bunnies hopping around in shopping malls and at events, this year’s celebration is shaping out to be a good one for 11-month-old Matthew Reddy who will be joining in on the festivities for the first time. The young Easter-egg hunter will experience the festivities with his loved ones as his family plan on attending an egg-hunt this year.

Ashina Reddy, mother of little Matthew, said she is looking forward to spending Easter with her family whilst making long lasting memories.

She said: “Matthew will be celebrating his very first Easter this year and we are really looking forward to it. We will be starting of the day at our local church which will be followed by a lunch with our closest friends and family.”

Although the holiday has become more about chocolate and the Easter bunny, for the Christian community it is still about celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ. For Christians, Easter is the joyful conclusion to the lenten season of devoted prayer, fasting and penitence which is observed by Christians over a 40-day period and is concluded by the holy week.

Holy Thursday (celebration of Jesus’s last supper) and the crucifixion of Jesus Christ on Good Friday are part of the holy week, which ends on Easter Sunday. After his crucifixion, death and burial, Jesus rose from the grave three days later. Easter, also known as the festival of hope will be celebrated by Christians across the globe this week.

With this in mind, the management and staff of Tongaat and Verulam Tabloid Newspapers, joined by young Matthew, would like wish all advertisers and readers a blessed and safe Easter. May the holy spirit of Easter fill your homes with hope, love and peace.
