Three lucky winners from Phoenix walked away with a whooping R175 000 in grand cash prizes at Checkstar’s 8th birthday celebrations, held at the Mount Edgecombe store on Sunday, 6 November.

Celebrating eight years of affording their customers the best service, quality goods and value for money, Checkstar Mount Edgecombe, Durban and Overport supermarkets recently gave back to the community with cash prizes and grocery vouchers to the value of R1million. Speaking to The Phoenix Tabloid, Regional manager for the Checkstar Brand, Winston Naidoo said the promotion was a resounding success. He said: “Many people contributed to the success of this promotion, including our loyal customers who supported this competition for the past six weeks. The promotion was designed to give back to the community in cash prizes and in pricing to the value of R1million, with the culmination of the three grand prizes to the value of R175 000 to three lucky winners out of the ten contestants that were chosen. We consider all our customers as winners and no one left empty handed as vouchers and hampers were provided for the other seven contestants.”

“We take this opportunity  to thank our marketing team and our buying team for making this promotion possible, Hypercheck Group and last but not least our customers who are the main contributors to our success. I want to thank every single one of our customers for their continued support and loyalty over the years and we hope to do more promotions like this in the near future,” Naidoo added. Checkstar Mount Edgecombe branch manager, Selvan Nadasen, said for customers to be eligible for the grand prize competition, they were required to purchase any three items from participating brands to the value of R300 or more, fill in the till slip entry form and drop it into the entry box in store. “The competition ran for six weeks with thousands of entries. Ten lucky contestants were randomly chosen from the box and immediately stood a better chance of winning the grand cash prizes of R100 000, R50 000 and R25 000. I want to thank the strong management team and staff members who ensured that the promotion was well executed,” Nadasen said. The three lucky winners were Trisha Dowlath who won R25 000, Judy James who won R50 000 and  Diyaksha Algoo who walked away with a massive cash prize of R100 000.
