The Class of 2022 is gearing up for the National Senior Certificate (NSC) exams which start on 31 October and end on 7 December.
Education MEC Mbali Frazer said the department of education is ready to administer the 2022 NSC examinations for the 198 866 full and part time candidates. “As it is always the case, the KZN department of education’s examination system is the biggest in the country, with 6022 invigilators to manage the writing of the examination in 1780 centres. “The distribution of examination material will be done through 13 nodal points and 103 distribution and collection centres. The province will print 120 question papers, which will total 34 million pages. There will be 28 morning and 27 afternoon sessions in the 2022 National Senior Certificate exams,” said MEC Frazer.
Lakehaven Secondary School head of department, Mrs L Subramoney said the school has been hard at work preparing matriculants for the final exams. “The school organised extra lessons to help learners in the last push for excellence in the 2022 NSC exams,” she said. One of the matriculants, Cebo Qwabe said she is ready for the final exams as the school provided them with a final push programme where they were given additional classes to prepare them for the exams.“The subject I look forward to writing is Geography as it brings reality to my life. My teachers are always pushing me to be the best and to achieve my goals,” said Qwabe. “This is a crucial time, where we ask members of the public, especially parents to support the Class of 2022. We urge the people of KwaZulu-Natal to protect schools in their neighbourhoods from those who want to turn them into playgrounds for criminal activities. We are also once again appealing to communities to desist from disrupting schools or blocking our learners and educators on their way to school during protests. Our children must not be denied their right to education because of conflicts that have nothing to do with them such as service delivery issues and faction fights,” said MEC Frazer.
