Local businesswoman and philanthropist, Cindy Norcott, will be launching her new book titled: “How does she do it”, this month.

Norcott said she will be having two launches on 25 November and on 30 November.  After her first book, “How to be unstoppable” reached best-seller status and is a behind-the-scenes look into the world of a female entrepreneur trying to balance work, life and everything in between, in this book Norcott opens up about being successful, but not perfect. Norcott, has been an entrepreneur since the age of 23. She then married, became a mother, a certified business coach, and an international motivational speaker hurtling on to win more awards than she can remember. She said wanting to do more and give back, she founded The Robin Hood Foundation in 2005, which has helped thousands of people in KwaZulu-Natal and has somehow made it look easy. Norcot said her inspiration to write this book came from the many years she has been speaking on various topics and decided she would like to consolidate her ideas into one book. “My main motivation for this book is that I believe that women in business are incredibly hard on themselves. We are always searching for that elusive balance and we often live under the belief that others have it all together. I wanted to demystify these thoughts and flatten the playing fields. Nobody has got it all together and often behind the scenes is messy and very imperfect and that is okay. I want to see women stop being so hard on themselves.

She said her first book was a best seller and hopes this one will be too. “The book is essentially me sharing my story of my journey in business and life and every chapter covers a particular area of my life where I appear to be winning but I unpack the back story behind any apparent success that people might think I have achieved,” she said. Writing this book, Norcott said she learnt that it is possible to write a book in a short period of time. “I gave myself a few weeks. I resonate with the quote, ‘You don’t need more time, you need a deadline’. I felt very vulnerable exposing my behind-the-scenes life and challenges and writing about my weaknesses, failures and foibles. I suppose that I am putting myself out there and I risk people not liking my book. This book is definitely related to my life. I used the title ‘How does she do it’ because this is a question people ask of me all the time. On the surface I look like I am achieving all my goals with apparent ease and often people ask me how I manage to do it all. In this book, I take myself off any pedestal that I might have been put on and I share what I have learned over the past 28 years of being a businesswoman trying to juggle business, family and life,” Norcott added

She said readers will get a lot of humour, practical wisdom and nuggets about a myriad of subjects. “I think any woman reading this book will relate to my struggles and can learn from some of my lessons that I have learned the hard way. The book is a great idea for Christmas or corporate gifts,” she said. The book will be available at the following stores, Wendy Bashford, 86 Adelaide Tambo Drive, Durban North; Willow Boutique, La Lucia Mall, Willow Boutique, Windermere Centre ProTalent, Suite 6 The Views, 11 The Boulevard, Westway Office Park or at Willow at Spence and Mae, 450 Kassier Road, Hillcrest.
