The uThukela District Mayor, Councillor Siphiwe Mazibuko, has encouraged all residents who may still be suffering from vaccine fear and doubt, to register and get vaccinated against Covid-19.
Mayor Mazibuko commented that the vaccine is the solution the country is offering against the deadly virus after he received his first dose of the Pfizer vaccine at the nurse’s home site in Ladysmith. The Mayor emphasised that he decided to lead the way by taking his own jab to allay fears among the people so that they take the cue and get vaccinated to save their own lives. “This is the moment we have all been waiting for. I urge everyone who is eligible for a vaccine to seize the opportunity with both hands, not only to protect yourselves but to protect the lives of others by registering and getting vaccinated,” he said. Mayor Mazibuko went on to explain that there are two types of brands used for vaccination, namely Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson. He added that with Pfizer one has to take two doses within 42 days, and with Johnson & Johnson only one dose must be taken. He said the pandemic is very much with us and encouraged people to adhere to all Covid-19 regulations to save lives.
