No arrests have been made as yet following the gruesome double murder of a Magabheni mother and son, who were shot and killed execution-style, in the head, on 18 May.

Umkomaas SAPS communications officer, Warrant Officer Ajay Thawnarian, said the double murder occurred near the Opapheni school, in Area 21. He said when police arrived on the scene, they found the two victims, aged 38 and 12, lying in a pool of blood. “Both deceased had sustained gunshot wounds to the head.” Thawnarian said upon speaking to the neighbour, police were informed that the victim’s daughter had arrived at her house, around 8.30am, crying while informing her that something has happened. “The neighbour then accompanied the child to the house where she found the victims lying dead inside the house. The child reported that she found the victims. The child further alleged that she did not hear anything.” Thawnarian said the motive behind the double murder is still unknown at this stage. He appealed to members of the public who can assist the police with their investigation to contact the investigating officer, Warrant Officer M Ndhlovu on 082-334-8791 or SAPS Umkomaas on 039-973-6100.
