The opening of registration for senior citizens to be vaccinated against Covid-19 has raised concerns among the elderly, who have been asked to register online.
However, for Ward 70 seniors, the fears of navigating the complicated process on the internet have been put aside following the offer of assistance from Councillor Tony Govender. “Some of you may know that the National Department of Health has embarked on a National vaccination programme for all those whom are 60 years and older. This is not compulsory but if you feel it necessary to take the vaccine, then you have an option to register your details on their national database and once done, you will be communicated via an SMS notice for a time, day and date to receive your vaccine.” Govender encouraged residents to reach out to them for assistance. “Our office is offering you our services to get you registered to secure your vaccine so kindly SMS, WhatsApp or call 031 401 0251 with your registered name, ID number, address, mobile number. It has to be a mobile number to receive an SMS. As per DOH requirements, you will be asked other questions during registration so be aware.” For more information contact Govender on 082 806 9891.
