“No members in the recruitment office or the entire Directorate shall ever phone any person requesting them to apply for any available jobs within the DPCI in exchange for money. We therefore warn the members of the society to be vigilant and guard against fraudsters attempting to rob them of their money.”

This was the warning issued by the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (DPCI) after reports of a scam emerged targeting the vulnerable people seeking employment within the Directorate. Spokesperson for DPCI, Colonel Katlego Mogale, said: “The recruitment office of the Hawks has received numerous telephone calls indicating that such is a follow-up to their previous communication with “Colonel Monyela” who requested them to forward their CV and qualifications.

We therefore wish to highlight that the official advertisements would only be reflected on the newspapers and the website of the South African Police Service as well the government circulars with a due date.”

Members of the public are urged to refrain from falling victim to such scams.
