Comedy stars Bash with Tash, Sagie Murugan and Masood Boomgaard will be among the highlights of the latest edition of the “Durban Comedy Jam” set to take place at the Elangeni Maharani Hotel’s Sky Venue,
North Beach, Durban, on Saturday, 6 October, at 8pm.
The monthly gig hosted at the hotel will feature some of the best stand-up comedy performers in the country. Bash with Tash has recently emerged as a comedy sensation after a string of viral videos catapulted her to stardom, earning her millions of fans and views across the planet. Her candid approach to everyday life topics make her a hit with comedy lovers who can look forward to more compelling, side-splitting and funny comic discourse from her. She has sold out venues across the country on numerous occasions.
Sagie Murugan enjoyed three decades in the entertainment business, alongside his brother, Muthu Murugan. One of the most dynamic acts to ever come out of South Africa, Sagie is known for his rapid fire style of comedy, epic storytelling and unforgettable one-liners. Also on the lineup is Nonto-R and rising star, Nabeel Peer. Both regularly featured on the channel alongside the biggest names in comedy. Last and but not least, the Durban Comedy Jam will be hosted by local favourite, Masood Boomgaard, who never fails to surprise with his wise cracks on a variety of topics. Fresh from his recent tours of Australia, Dubai and the UK, Boomgaard is best known for his unique comedic take on current affairs and trends, tackling a variety of topics from politics and sport to the economy and relationships. He often also uses the stage to reflect on his childhood and experiences growing up in a mixed race family. Boomgaard performed with some of the best in the business across the country and has a few solo shows under his belt. His most recent, “Joker”, was released on DVD. He also appeared recently on Comedy Central. He returns to London after the success of his tour in 2017. Look out for his epic Donald Trump impersonation.
