Wentworth SAPS is urging parents to speak to their children about talking to strangers after reports of a kidnapping duo and possible human trafficking syndicate allegedly attempted to lure a child near Assegai Primary School in Wentworth.

The men were seen in a white Toyota Hilux bakkie was seen in Wentworth area and the two occupants were trying to call the child. According to Wentworth SAPS communications officer, Cpt MP Gumede, the child in school uniform noticed that the driver had a syringe (injection) in his hand.

“The child then ran away. The vehicle mentioned is a white Toyota Hilux bakkie with no canopy and with tinted windows. Two African /foreigners were occupants. Parents are warned to talk to their children about this and the police will play the role of visiting the schools especially primary schools to educate the children about talking to strangers or accepting any gifts from strangers. The police are following the information about this and anyone who spotted this vehicle in the area is urged to immediately call the police. The occupants are suspected to be child kidnappers or human trafficking syndicates,” said Cpt Gumede.
