Two security officers were stabbed and robbed by two suspects in separate incidents and about 15 minutes of each occurrence in Stonebridge on Friday.

KZN VIP medical and response teams stood down at both incidents and spokesman Gareth Naidoo, said, “An off-duty security officer who is also the bread winner in his family is fighting for his life in hospital following an armed robbery whilst on his way home from work.

“The off-duty security officer was walking on Cardinal Road when he was accosted by two male suspects. The suspects robbed the officer at knifepoint and after taking his
valuables, stabbed him multiple times in the abdomen.

“KZN VIP medics responded to the scene and stabilised the patient before rushing him to hospital.

“Fifteen minutes after the first stabbing incident, a second security officer was held up on Stonebridge Drive near the Polo Park informal settlement area.

“The security officer was robbed for his valuables and then stabbed by the suspects. He was stabilised by KZN VIP medics and taken to hospital,” added Naidoo. “We urge any witnesses to come forward with information which can lead to the arrest of the two suspects in both incidents.

According to the victims, the two suspects are African males, believed to be in their late 20s and both were attired in blue overalls. Police were informed of the stabbings,” said Naidoo.
