The Chatsworth Sporting Junior Academy resumed training last weekend after the December recess.

The interest in the academy has been phenomenal with youngsters aged from six to 10 joining the successful programme. The programme caters for boys and girls. The academy introduces youngsters to hard ball cricket with the intention being to develop players skills from as early as possible. Coaching takes place every Saturday at the Chatsworth Cricket Oval from 2 to 3:30pm. The club uses its CSA accredited qualified coaches to provide the necessary coaching at no charge.

Some of the aspects covered are the basic batting skills, bowling skills, fielding, hand eye co-ordination and cricket ethics. Chatsworth Sporting has a rich history of producing cricketers to represent the province and the country. Caleb Pillay and Courtney Gounden were the latest additions to the SA U19 teams. Both players are products of the Chatsworth Sporting Academy.
