Motorist beaten to a pulp and robbed
Motorists on the Phoenix Highway quickly called for medical help after a man was found beaten and dumped on the road in inclement weather
on Friday morning.
It was also discovered that the 47-year-old man was robbed by a group of men whilst stationary at the robot at the Eastbury Drive and Phoenix Highway intersection. Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were called out to the scene by motorists who found the injured man lying on the street.
“Upon arrival, he was treated for blunt force trauma and open wounds to his head before being transported to hospital. It is alleged that the victim was stationary in his BMW behind a Hyundai i10 at the intersection when the robot turned green. The driver of the BMW hooted for the Hyundai i10 to proceed when four occupants of the vehicle approached the victim and began assaulting him. The Indian males then robbed him of his cellphone, wallet and chain before fleeing,” said RUSA boss, Prem Balram.
He added that an extensive search was conducted for the suspects, however, no arrests were made.
