Promising young swimmer, Monica Botha has qualified for the SA National Junior Championship.
The 11-year-old Amanzimtoti learner will contest the 100m, 200m freestyle and 100m backstroke events. Interested in learning, reading and music, Monica describes herself as kind, committed and competitive.
The Aqua Lifestyle Centre ambassador said: ” I also hold the title as the top female junior swimmer in the province since 2015. l would like to become a competitive senior swimmer. My goals is to swim the European circuit like Mare Nostrum and the World Cup.”She said if everything goes well, that should give her enough experience to try to qualify for the Olympics in the future,
“The qualifying times are very fast and it will take a lot of work to become that fast and strong. I do believe that anything is possible through hard work and commitment.
My career dream is to become a veterinarian.” Michelle Weber and Erin Gallagher are Monica’s local hero’s . “They are always kind and supportive to us junior swimmers. Internationally, I admire Katie Ledecky, and Sarah Sjostrom,’ said Monica.
