‘free shopping experience’ for community upliftment

The spirit of Mandela Day continues to be upheld following the success of the ‘Free shopping experience’ held at Isipingo SAPS and will be hosted every three months for the upliftment of the community. The ‘Free shopping experience’ is an initiative whereby impoverished families shop for free from items donated by members of the community.

Isipingo SAPS communications officer, Captain David Ragavan, said, “Following the positive feedback we received from the 67 minutes of free shopping hosted by Isipingo SAPS, Alpha Alarms and Isipingo Business Forum, on Mandela Day, we felt the need to host this project on a quarterly basis. Isipingo SAPS will once again join forces with Alpha Alarms to promote the initiative and we encourage members of the community to donate new or second hand items including clothing, homeware (dishes), non-perishables (canned goods), linen (blankets and bedding) and toys to the worthy cause so that we can help enrich the lives of those less fortunate. This is the legacy of Madiba and is the gift that keeps on giving.”

Anyone who is interested in donating items, please contact Cpt Ragavan at Isipingo SAPS on 031-913-3415/ 074-837-4243 or Alpha Alarms on 031-902-4133.
