Greenbury Secondary School learners were filled with jubilation and pride after achieving outstanding results in the National Senior Certificate (NSC) 2018 examination.

The local school achieved a 98.8 percent pass rate from the 95% obtained in 2017. Top learner, Teniel Gabrielle Gerald was placed in second position in the province of KZN.

Two hundred and sixty learners from Greenbury Secondary School wrote the 2018 NSC examinations at the institution.

Speaking to The Phoenix Tabloid, school principal, Mr. Ramnarain said, “Eight of our learners received straight 7’s (distinctions) and we achieved a 72% Bachelors pass.

I want to congratulate these learners – you deserve it because of the hard work and long hours you’ve put in to achieve these results.
“I also want to congratulate their parents, teachers, management and the school governing body who all worked together to see these learners achieve excellent results for these examinations. I wish all the learners well in their future endeavours.”

Top students, Teniel Gabrielle Gerald received 96% for English, 95% for Afrikaans, 95% for Mathematics, 92% for Life Orientation, 99% for Accounting, 97% for Life Sciences and 99% for Physical Science. Shikar Adyle Babulall received 81% for English, 83% for Afrikaans, 84% for Mathematics, 81% for Life Orientation, 91% for Accounting, 86% for Business Studies and 87% for Life Sciences. Uveshen Govender obtained 87% for English, 85% for Afrikaans, 80% for Mathematics, 87% for Life Orientation, 85% for Accounting, 90% for Life Sciences and 88% for Physical Sciences. Kavin Moonsamy received 83% for English, 84% for Afrikaans, 80% for Mathematics, 82% for Life Orientation, 85% for Accounting, 90% for Life Sciences and 90% for Physical Sciences. Devasha Govender obtained 86% for English, 94% for Afrikaans, 89% for Mathematics, 80% for Life Orientation, 96% for Accounting, 94% for Life Sciences and 94% for Physical Sciences. Jaden Monique James received 88% for English, 86% for Afrikaans, 82% for Mathematics, 85% for Life Orientation, 95% for Accounting, 88% for Life Sciences and 90% for Physical Sciences. Sarelle Kistensamy obtained 93% for English, 96% for Afrikaans, 86% for Mathematics, 93% for Life Orientation, 91% for Accounting, 90% for Life Sciences and 91% for Physical Sciences. Seyur Lutchminarain received 90% for English, 86% for Afrikaans, 94% for Mathematics, 88% for Life Orientation, 96% for Information Technology, 93% for Life Sciences and 95% for Physical Sciences.
