Phoenix police are probing an inquest after a decomposed body was found in a bush at Eastbury Drive, on Monday.

According to Phoenix SAPS communications officer, Captain L Naidoo, police member, Warrant Officer M Govender alleged that on Monday, 2 August, at about 4:05pm, they were called to Eastbury Drive for a complaint of a body found in the bush.

“The police members were contacted by members of a local security company who pointed out the body of an unknown male lying in the bush on his back. Upon investigating, the members noticed that the body was in a state of decomposition. The corpse was then handed over to the government mortuary. An inquest is being investigated,” said Cpt Naidoo.

Durban Search and Rescue, Durban K9 Search and Rescue and Metro Police Search and Rescue responded to recover the severely decomposed body which was located down a steep slope.
