A 61-year-old Ottawa granny and her four-year-old granddaughter suffered multiple injuries when they were viciously mauled by a Boerboel in Park Lane on Saturday.

Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were called out to the scene by the public requesting assistance for the elderly woman and the child. “Upon arrival, medics treated the two for multiple bite wounds. It is alleged that the granny and child had gone to a tuck-shop opposite their home to purchase bread.

While on the property, the Boerboel broke its chain and began attacking the child. In an attempt to protect the child, the gran grabbed the dog and fell to the ground when she was mauled. The two were treated on scene before being transported to hospital by ambulance,” said RUSA boss, Prem Balram.
