Three men are being sought in connection with the abduction, rape and assault of a 16-year-old girl in Durban in June this year.

Police spokesperson, Colonel Thembeka Mbhele, said, “It is alleged that on 5 June 2018 at about 5:30pm, a victim aged 16 took a taxi from Berea to Field Street. Whilst the taxi was headed towards Field Street, passengers jumped out of the taxi and the victim was left with three people including the driver. The victim informed the driver that she was jumping off on Field Street but the driver ignored her and drove away. The taxi proceeded until they reached a house that looked like it was under renovation with no windows. The driver instructed the victim to jump out and with the assistance of the two other men, they raped her. The victim was kept in that house until the next day when she was released.”

The Durban Central Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit is appealing to the members of the community to come forward with information with regards to the case. Police believe the men in the identikit can be of assistance to solve the case. In a separate incident, a 22-year-old woman was walking along Umgeni Road at about 8pm on 4 June 2018, when she was approached by an unknown man. The man is alleged to have acted as if he was directing the woman and proceeded to rape her at the nearby railway station. Police believe that the man in the identikit can be of assistance in the rape case that is being probed.
