John Hlongwane and Nathan Rice of Untitled Entertainment are set to produce their first full-length feature film. Production is set to commence in Durban this week.

The fictional film is a coming-of-age story in the lush rolling hills of KZN.

The story is weaved around a never say die youngster as he cycles over unforgiving terrain on a journey of self-discovery.

The dynamic duo co-wrote the script and Hlongwane is the main character, Philani Jaca. Rice is directing the film.

The two met when they were boys in Kranskop in KwaZulu Natal. They were raised at Kwasizabantu Mission near Maphumulo. The connection of their brotherhood grew stronger when they discovered a passion for film-making at a young age.As teenagers after making home videos, they realised they they had special talents.

The pair split briefly for a few years while pursuing their studies. After re-uniting Untitled Entertainment was established in 2015.

They won the Best Short Film at the recent Simon Sabela Film and Television Awards, Rice was named Best Director, Short Film, for Faulty. The go-getters also won Best Short Film for the same film at the African
Emerging Filmmakers Awards last month.

“This is a dream come true. We are thrilled to finally start filming on this movie which has been in planning for the past two years. We are also proud to have the opportunity to showcase the talent in KwaZulu Natal to the
rest of South Africa, the continent, and hopefully even international audiences,” said Rice.

“The movie will feature fast-paced action, breathtaking scenery, thrilling drama and of course a little romance” said Hlongwane, The film will be produced in association with the KZN Film Commission, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the National Film and Video Foundation.
