A family escaped unharmed after a fire ripped through a residential flat on Crart Avenue in Glenwood on Friday afternoon.

Operations director at Rescue Care, Garrith Jamieson, said, “Rescue Care paramedics responded to calls of the fire around 3pm being told there was possible entrapments in the flat.

“On arrival, paramedics found the Durban Fire Department in attendance battling the blaze. Fortunately, no injuries were sustained as the family inside the flat were evacuated and the fire was quickly extinguished although the flat was severely damaged.”

Jamieson added that the cause of the fire is unknown and will be further investigated by the relevant personnel on scene.
