A cocaine and heroine drug peddler was among the five people busted during raids in Wentworth last week.
The operation, coordinated by the Provincial Task Team and the Drug and Firearm Unit, first swooped at a drug den in Pascal Place with police dogs.
Police seized a plastic packet containing cocaine powder and 5 400 pink and white capsules, believed to be heroin.
Provincial police spokesman, Lieutenant Colonel Thulani Zwane, said the items seized has been sent to the police laboratory for analysis.
According to Zwane, after arresting the first suspect, detectives moved to the second target in Hime Street.
That suspect was found in possession of several cellphones which are suspected to be stolen.
“He was sought for other crimes too. The suspect will be charged for possessing stolen property and other charges,” said Zwane.
Zwane added the third target was nabbed in Woodville Road for possessing cocaine.
“Two other flats in Alabama Road were also penetrated. The two suspects there were arrested for dealing in drugs, cocaine and dagga. They had 330 small packets of dagga on them. While there, the members received information that illegal firearms were stored at another flat. The information was spot on. Three 9mm pistols were seized. Leads to apprehend the suspect is being followed up,” said Zwane.
He said police have adopted zero tolerance towards the drugs menace and illegal firearms.
“One thing is certain. The raids will be stepped up,” he said.
The accused appeared in the Wentworth Magistrate’s Court on Monday. They were denied bail.
