Chatsworth Sporting Club is the only premier league club from the community that still participates in the premier league (highest level of club cricket).

According to the chairperson of the club Jason Sathiaseelan, Chatsworth Sporting has been the leaders of cricket development in the Chatsworth and surrounding areas, having produced many quality cricketers.

He said the club has elected a dynamic new executive committee to drive its many projects and will soon announce some new exciting initiatives for the future of cricket in Chatsworth.

Sathiaseelan said the first initiative is a planned cricket tour to India with the senior and junior team. “Not many players have the opportunity of playing abroad and this tour to South India will afford players the opportunity of testing their skills against the best in the world. Chatsworth Sporting has been on two previous tours to North India and the club wishes to build on the fantastic relationship built on the cricket crazy country of India which is one of the toughest places to tour,” added Sathiaseelan.

He said one of the clubs major projects is proving to be successful with the establishment of the U9 Cricket Academy. “The response to the age group has been positive and the club has now created a team to participate in the U11 League. The results are immaterial and whilst some may be flattered to beat this young and budding team, the programme that Sporting has in place will bear fruits in the future.

“There is no doubt that such a programme will produce quality cricketers for Chatsworth Sporting and KZN,” added Sathiaseelan.
