A woman was killed and a man critically injured on Wednesday night following a fatal stabbing at a residence in Bulwer, Glenwood.
ER24 spokesman, Russel Meiring, said, “ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene to find the local authorities already in attendance. “On inspection, paramedics found the body of a woman, believed to be in her 30s, lying in the parking area in the complex. Paramedics assessed the woman and found that she had sustained numerous injuries, as well as several stab wounds, and showed no signs of life. Nothing could be done for her and she was declared dead.
“A second patient, a man also believed to be in his 30’s, was found inside the residence. Assessments showed that the man had sustained several stab wounds and was in a critical condition. The man was treated for his injuries and provided with Advanced Life Support interventions before he was transported to King Edward Provincial Hospital for further treatment,” said Meiring.
Police spokesperson, Cpt Nqobile Gwala, said, “A case of murder is being investigated by Umbilo SAPS. It is alleged on 20 February 2019 at 11pm, Umbilo SAPS responded to a complaint where a woman fell from a flat at Bulwer Road. On arrival at the scene, the body of a woman believed to be in her late 20s was found with stab wounds. Further police investigations led them to a flat where a 40-year-old man was found with stab wounds.
“It is alleged that after a domestic dispute, the woman was stabbed by her boyfriend who also sustained stab wounds. He was treated and placed under arrest for murder. He will be appearing at the Durban Magistrates Court.”
