At around 7pm on Monday evening, ALS Paramedics responded to multiple calls for medical assistance following a cash-in-transit robbery on the northbound N2 near Chesterville, just outside the Durban CBD.
Garrith Jamieson of ALS paramedics said; “Upon arrival, paramedics found hundreds of members of the public looting money scattered across the roadway after the armoured vehicle had been blown open. SAPS officers on the scene moved swiftly to disperse the crowd and secure the area before emergency services could proceed safely.

“Once the scene was stabilised, paramedics were directed to two security personnel who had been inside the vehicle at the time of the robbery. Both men were assessed, with one sustaining minor to moderate injuries as a result of the explosion. He was treated at the scene by ALS Paramedics.” confirmed Jamieson
The N2 national freeway was completely closed by SAPS and Metro Police to allow investigations to continue, causing major traffic disruptions.
