In an effort to address citywide hunger, the non-profit organisation Food for Love Africa (FFLA) held its annual Rice Drive on Saturday, 27 September, at the River Range Ranch in Verulam.

FFLA spokesperson Lisa Sukdev announced that the fifth edition of the drive collected 103 tons of rice. “Durbanites have fallen in love with and support this event with such vigour, and this is evident in the generosity of donors,” she said. “We could not be more pleased with the generous contributions, given because of the integrity of the organisation and the work done through collective efforts. Knowing that the open hands of the community will enable us to feed another 2.5 million hungry people is humbling and fuels our passion to continue bringing dignity and food to the hungry.”
