The Shiva Thandava Cosmic Temple of Dance (STCTOD), based in Moorton, Chatsworth, is preparing for a historic journey to the United States to represent South Africa at the highly anticipated Diwali Fest at Disney World, taking place from 9 to 12 October. This milestone is not only a celebration of dance and artistry, but also an honour to carry the legacy of South African Hindu culture onto one of the world’s most renowned stages.

For years, Shiva Thandava has stood as a beacon of discipline, devotion, and cultural pride. Under the guidance of gurus Mahlinie Ganasen and Yershen Govindasami, the dancers have been trained not only in technique but in values that form the foundation of the Hindu tradition: respect, humility, and gratitude. Every performance is rooted in spiritual connection, with dancers bowing to their parents’ feet to receive blessings before stepping on stage – a reminder that art is more than performance; it is prayer, heritage, and identity.
