A businessman was robbed at gunpoint and hijacked by three suspects in broad daylight on Newcenter Drive, Newlands West, on Mondaymorning, 15 September.
KZNVIP Protection spokesperson Gareth Naidoo said that just after 10:20am, the KZNVIP Control Centre received a panic alarm activation confirming an armed hijacking.

“Response officers, tactical units, and KZNVIP medical and rescue teams were immediately dispatched. On arrival, officers met the complainant, who said he had been checking on his trucks when three armed suspects in a grey Hyundai approached him. They held him at gunpoint, robbed him of valuables, and fled in his white Toyota Corolla. Shots were fired as the suspects made their getaway,” said Naidoo.
The vehicle was later traced to an informal settlement off Briardale through joint efforts by tracking agents, KZNVIP, and SAPS. Police are continuing investigations.
