A man was shot during a hijacking in Jollywest Place, Newlands West, on Friday evening, when suspects made off with his vehicle in a brazen attack.
KZNVIP spokesperson Gareth Naidoo said the Control Centre received a call from a community member reporting a hijacking in progress at a property on Jollywest Place.
“On arrival, KZNVIP officers were informed by residents that an Indian male had been hijacked of a white Toyota Fortuner, registration unconfirmed. The victim sustained a gunshot wound and was transported privately to a medical facility before response teams arrived. The matter was attended to by SAPS, who are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident,” said Naidoo.
He further urged residents to remain alert: “We call on community members to be vigilant and to immediately report suspicious persons or vehicles to SAPS, private security, or the local community police forum.”
