Fine Line Tattoo and Piercing and Wild Orchid Tattoos have partnered to support The Baby Home Durban North through a charity drive. From now until Friday, 18 July, they’ll donate 80% of their profits from tattoo sales to the organisation.

Joanne Tuenissen, founding member of The Baby Home Durban North, believes the drive will help raise much-needed funds and provide essential items for the babies and the Babyline crisis support service. “Every contribution helps us to continue offering a safe, loving environment for vulnerable babies, and emotional support for moms in crisis,” she said.

The charity drive aims to expand community awareness about the work of The Baby Home Durban North and create long-term relationships with supporters. Cat van Der Merwe, founder and tattoo artist at Wild Orchid Tattoos, said she hopes to encourage others to use their talents to raise funds for those in need.

The Baby Home has posted a list of items that can be donated, including grocery items, cleaning supplies, and baby essentials. Monetary donations can be made to the NPO’s First National Bank account, number 62718056874.

Fine Line Tattoo and Piercing, located in Durban North, has a history of giving back to the community since opening in 2017. The tattoo shop has raised over R100,000 for various charity organisations over the past eight years.

Etienne Louw, owner of Fine Line, said the drive has been extended to accommodate as many people as possible. “We want to raise awareness for local charity organisations and hopefully inspire people to take notice of the crucial need that exists in the community for funding and supporting these worthy organisations,” he said.

To make the event more accessible, clients are allowed to bring their own tattoo designs. Louw hopes that participants will feel a sense of pride and joy knowing they have made a positive difference in a child’s life.
