From the bustling streets of Durban to the international runway in India, 14-year-old Candy Sithole is preparing to shine on the global stage after being selected as an official delegate for the Teen Glam World International Beauty Pageant.

Founded in Kerala, India, Pegasus—a renowned name in international beauty pageants—will host the second edition of this prestigious event on July 17, 2025, at the Gokulam Convention Centre in Kochi. Candy, one of the selected delegates, will represent South Africa among contestants from across the world.

“It still feels like a dream,” Candy said with a glowing smile. “I’m most excited about being on a plane for the first time, meeting other sister queens from around the world, and trying different types of food. I’ve never done anything like this before.”

With a busy school calendar and pageant preparations underway, Candy has been juggling classes, rehearsals, and practicing her speeches with tireless determination. “It’s been tough, but I want to give it everything I’ve got. This is more than just a pageant—it’s a journey of growth and discovery,” she said.

The path to this moment has not been easy. The financial challenges were immense, but the community rallied around the young hopeful. “We couldn’t afford a modeling school or fancy coaches,” Candy admitted. “But my mom’s friends helped us raise funds, and some kind designers stepped in to sponsor my outfits.”

Her mother, Nokuphila Sithole, is filled with pride and gratitude. “Looking back at how it all started, I can only say that she was destined for this. We never had the money for modeling schools, but God saw us through. Seeing her get this far brings tears to my eyes,” she said.

Candy will be accommodated at SAJ Earth Resort in Cochin from July 11 to July 18, where she will meet other delegates and prepare for the grand finale. Pegasus will cover her local transportation and accommodation.

With her eyes on the international crown, Candy represents not just South African beauty and talent, but the spirit of perseverance and hope.
“I want to show other girls like me that dreams do come true—no matter where you come from,” she said.
