In a triumphant return to the international bodybuilding scene, local athlete Yeskiel Naraindath has successfully defended his title as Fitness Model Champion at the IBFF Worldwide Mr and Miss Universe held at the Midrand Convention Centre on 26 October.
This event marked a significant milestone for South Africa, showcasing the nation’s burgeoning talent in the sport and attracting over 250 athletes from around the globe.
Representing South Africa once again has been a dream come true for Naraindath, who expressed immense pride in showcasing the potential of South African athletes. “Winning this title again demonstrates that my success in Taranto, Italy, was not just luck, but the result of hard work, dedication, and passion,” he said.

As a two-time Mr Universe champion, Naraindath has become a trailblazer in the fitness model category, which is currently classified as amateur. However, plans are underway for this category to transition to a PRO lineup by 2025 or 2026. He has set the standards for physical requirements in this category, making it clear that any challengers for the title will face tough competition.
Naraindath noted that the Mr and Miss Universe show was streamed worldwide, offering a platform for South Africa to demonstrate its value both nationally and internationally. “We are a strong contender on the world stage,” he added.
Looking ahead, Naraindath has exciting plans for 2025, having received invitations to compete in the IBFF Worldwide Mr and Miss Universe in Russia and the IBFF Worldwide Tm World Championship in the UK. This upcoming international exposure is anticipated to broaden his horizons and introduce him to a diverse community of athletes. “I’m eager to learn from others and showcase what South Africa has to offer,” he said.
Despite facing challenges in securing sponsorship previously, Naraindath has relied on a strong support network of family, friends, and clients who believe in his abilities and commitment. “Sponsorship can be difficult to navigate, but having a dedicated circle has made all the difference,” he noted, emphasising the importance of supporting emerging athletes.
As Naraindath looks forward to the next chapter in his athletic journey, he remains committed to inspiring and guiding others in the fitness industry. He encouraged aspiring fitness champions to always surround themselves with supportive individuals, maintain discipline, and strive for improvement.
“My dreams have come true, and yours can too. Surround yourself with positivity, work hard, and never hesitate to ask for help. The journey to success is not one you have to take alone,” Naraindath concluded.
With unwavering determination and a passion for the sport, Naraindath is poised to continue making an impact in bodybuilding and beyond, proudly representing South Africa on the global stage.
