Wheel to heal together with the Africa Muslims Agency partnered up with Durban-based cycling clubs to raise funds in support of displaced Palestinians and Lebanese families.

The clubs, Team Impi, Batsalani and Team Lightspeed, have hosted weekly cycle rides since early October with their next ride on Saturday, 16 November. These rides have attracted amateur and professional cyclists alike.

During the midst of the ongoing genocide and inhumane destruction of Gaza and Lebanon, the surviving population uses all the resources at their disposal to survive. With the severe shortage of all daily essentials, transportation in the form of bicycles and carts are life-saving. Help can reach the sick, inured and starving where cars and ambulances cannot. Riding has become a form of great resilience.

Mohammed Docrat, spokesperson of Team Lightspeed said: “As a team of dedicated cyclists, we believe our weekly rides show solidarity for genocide survivors in Gaza and Lebanon. We would love to see more cyclists of all abilities join our weekly rides to express their care for the cause. All funds raised would be utilised towards providing food, water, medication and emergency supplies in Gaza and Lebanon.”

All cyclists including pro, social and even once-off riders are welcome for the upcoming ride, scheduled to begin at 5:50am at Bike and Bean in North Beach.
