Local carguard, Eddie Bassia, recently published a book inspired by his parents, family, and the trials experienced by his daughter.

Parenting Through Love is Bassia’s second book and focuses on a personal narrative about him and daughter. Bassia said, “This story is personal and touches on my daughter and the challenges we experienced. My daughter was very sick so the main challenge was constantly taking her to hospital whilst being a car guard. As I grew and charted my path, life took a transformative turn with the birth of my first daughter. The joy of becoming a parent was unprecedented, but it came with many challenges.”

Bassia said the book tries to explain where he comes from and what kind of experiences he had with family or parents. Additionally, it speaks on how they sacrificed their dreams to fulfil his dream and how he tries to honour them.

Bassia said the book shows two aspects. One aspect is on him and his parents whilst the second aspect focuses on him and his daughter from a parental view. Bassia continued, “This speaks on all challenges and difficulties facing to become a father. Far from home, I have to survive as a refugee and create my integration with society. Now I have a new family in this country: fathers; mothers and brothers who love and support my journey.”

Bassia said this book contains information needed to ensure the good health of your children and readers will also find a moving experience on family and child issues.

Bassia shared that he had ambitions to provide mentorship and help develop students as he’d previously done in his home country – Democratic Republic of Congo. He shared that he recently obtained his Masters in Commerce from the University of KwaZulu-Natal last year, and hopes to continue with a PhD.

In 2016, he published a book titled “Poverty is not a Disease”.
