Angelique Grundlingh from Jogies Dojo in Overport participated in the ISKA South African Karate and Kickboxing Championships held in Stellenbosch recently and took first position in kata, continuous kumite, creative kata and weaponry to secure a place in the SA team that will compete in the World Championships to be held in Orlando USA in 2018.

Commenting on her victory, Grundlingh said that the competition was tough.
“I managed to stay calm and apply the skills I had learnt through kickboxing training,” said the medalist who walked away with two gold and two silvers medals.
“Shodan Angelique is a dedicated, committed and very  serious student who tackles all tasks diligently,” said trainer, Shihan Abdul Latiff Jogie.
Despite her recent victory, Grundlingh said that her studies would prevent her from joining the Orlando-bound team.
“I was looking forward to representing South Africa in Orlando next year, but unfortunately due to my studies I will be doing community services next year,” she said.
